Electronic Payments Names Recipients of 2012 Business & Technology Scholarship
Calverton, New York – June 21, 2012 – Electronic Payments, a leading innovator in merchant services and payment processing solutions, recently selected three outstanding Southampton High School students as the recipients of the company’s annual Business and Technology Scholarship. Each honoree will receive an academic scholarship in recognition of their academic achievements, extra-curricular participation and community involvement throughout their high school careers.
The Electronic Payments Scholarship Committee selected Rory King as the primary honoree, awarding him with a $2,500 scholarship. Mr. King will pursue an interdisciplinary degree in Mathematics, Computer Science and Economics at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. Attaining a $1,500 scholarship is Juliette Behringer, who will be attending the University of Georgia – St. Athens where she will study Public Relations and Music. Earning a scholarship of $1,000, Brandon Jimenez, will study Business and Entrepreneurship at one of two currently undetermined universities in New York. The scholarships will be presented to the students during the school’s Senior Scholarship and Awards Night on June 21, 2012.
“Enabling talented, ambitious and civic-minded students to realize their goals of a higher education is one of the most effective ways Electronic Payments can give back to our community,” commented Michael Nardy, Founder and CEO of Electronic Payments and alumnus of Southampton schools. “I am confident that each scholarship honoree will prosper in their future endeavors and become true leaders and ambassadors for their new respective universities and communities.”
Scholarship honorees are selected based on academic excellence, community and extra-curricular involvement, and a demonstrated interest in technology, business and entrepreneurship. Eligible candidates must be in their senior year of high school and enrolled in a collegiate undergraduate program for the 2012-2013 academic year. Application evaluations emphasized a letter of recommendation, curriculum vitae and an essay describing a modern entrepreneur whose leadership, vision and ethics the candidate would most like to emulate in their undergraduate studies and professional career.
